How to draw a Chinese dragon?

Hey there, young dragon! We're continuing our dragon drawing series with " how to draw a Chinese dragon ." Chinese dragons are very different from Western-style dragons. They're snake-like creatures with legs. Drawing a Chinese dragon is quite easy. If you carefully follow the step-by-step drawing guide, you'll have your Chinese dragon drawn in just a few minutes. 🐉

Draw with a light hand. You'll erase some of the initial shapes before the drawing is finished. In the guide below, each step is highlighted in light blue. You don't need any special pens or tools. A regular pencil, an eraser, and paper are all you need. If you like, you can also color the drawing with colored pencils or pens. ✏

Chinese Dragon Body

To begin, draw a small circle in the bottom right corner of your paper. The Chinese dragon's body is quite long, so leave it plenty of room.

Draw a smaller circle next to the first one. This will be the snout of the Chinese dragon. 🐲

Draw a long zigzag line behind the head of the Chinese dragon .

Draw another curved line parallel to the previous one. It narrows at the end to join the other line.

Draw another curved line parallel to the previous ones. You can start to see the outline of the Chinese dragon's body. 🐉

Erase the middle line of the Chinese dragon's body.

Add a few curved lines to the body to make it more three-dimensional. This will give the Chinese dragon's body a slightly 3D appearance. 🐉

Improves the shape of the Chinese dragon's snout with additional rounded lines.

Draw jagged lines for the hair on the back of the Chinese dragon's head, as well as around its snout.

Erase the outlines (sketch) of the Chinese dragon's head and snout. 🐲

Chinese Dragon Tail

Add a fluffy tail to the Chinese dragon at the end of its body.

Chinese Dragon Claws

Draw the legs and paws of the Chinese dragon as shown in the image above. 🐉

Add some fur to the paws and highlight the claws with short wavy lines.

Chinese Dragon Head

Draw two circles for the eyes of the Chinese dragon .

Draw eyelids, pupils, and curved, hairy eyebrows on your Chinese dragon.

Draw the mouth, add details to the nose and between the eyes of the Chinese dragon.

Add an irregular line for the Chinese dragon's teeth and curved lines for its snout. 🐲

Draw the antlers, long whiskers and mane of the Chinese dragon.

Add curved lines to the sides of the Chinese dragon's body to enhance the perspective and detail of the drawing. 🐉
